So I've been thinking about relationships recently. Just in general. I honestly think that love is the hardest thing for human beings to master. Even the brightest and most intelligent people fail at it.
And what about love at first sight? Does that really exist? If you haven't talked to someone, than you are solely attracted to that person's looks. I may be smitten by someone and get a really good first impression, but how do you know if it's love at first sight. Like you know those stories where the person says "I knew from the moment I met her that I was going to marry her" but how do some people just know? I honestly don't understand it.

And what about finding your soul mate. There are over 7 billion people living on Earth right now. Let's say the gender ratio is even, with 3.5 billion of those people being male. This is a total guess-timation but out of those 3.5 billion males, lets say about 400 million are between my dating age range of 19-25. Let's narrow that down even further; of those 400 million guys, say 1/8 of them are gay. That leaves us with 50 million potential bachelors. Let's say out of those 50 million guys, I am really compatible with every 50th guy. That means I could happily date a million men, according to my flawless calculations haha

So with that being said, do you think there is only one person out there that could be your soul mate, or do you think there are a plethora of people who could be?

"Don't find love, let love find you. That's why it's called falling in love, because you don't force yourself to fall, you just fall."

  1. "You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly" ;)

I know what you mean though. What are the chances you'll bump into a Mr. right... and if you do will they like you back? Based on the limited amount of chances we get to meet people I have a hard time believing in only one soulmate... so I guess the idea is to find someone you're not only attracted to but love spending time with. Emotional connections are totally important. I have a feeling I'll just "know" when that happens. I think about it all the time as well!

  2. AGD: Your soul mates (yes, more than 1) are out there but they won't be perfect, no one is. You can try to seek out someone as close to perfection as you can, but you'll find that you tolerate their "flaws", just as they will with yours. Now obviously you may have some deal breakers that you can never compromise on and that's OK too. The reason you can't only aim for perfection is because someone "better" always comes along in one characteristic or another but you really have to evaluate the whole package that is a person, not just one or two criteria.

  3. I think about these things all the time...well except for what you said about all the people that exist in the world right now. That had never really occurred to me. Crazy thought.

  4. AGD - U have really great insight, I think that's why I enjoy ur blog so much. I really hope u find ur 'soul mate'. From what i read about u, u really deserve it. I sent u an email a while back, can u let me kno if u received it?

Ps where did u get that quote from?

  5. I don't believe in love at first sight, but I do believe in infatuation at first sight (which I think is a much nicer word than lust). In other words, you don't know another person well enough to "love" them yet, but you know that you're in love with what you know about them so far, if that makes sense.

Don't worry about so much about finding a man who is 100% perfect; it's overrated. Relationship drama sucks and petty differences can be annoying, but a roller coaster without any hills or troughs makes for a very boring ride

  6. TB- Good thing I'm not the only one who thinks about this. I see where you're coming from though. I need to be realistic when it comes to looking for guys. The biggest thing for me is the personality connection. That's why I will never use a online dating website, because you can't see their full personality on them. My parents always say that! "You'll just know". Ughh I hope yall are right

fan of casey- I would never want someone perfect. Perfection is boring to me. I want someone I can find flaws in and vice versa. Thats what makes a relationship even stronger, ya know?

Ceedsmith- Haha I have odd thoughts like that. Sorry if I freaked you out. It's cool theres more people who think about this stuff than just me. Love is confusing

mark5150- Gracias! This is just random stuff that floats around in my mind everyday I suppose. I hope I do find that special someone, and I hope you do too! We both deserve it.
Dude, I am so sorry. I did recieve the emails but I am seriously the worlds worst email responder. Theres really no excuse for not emailing you back but I will, eventually. lol
I got the quote on stumbleupon.
